The Revolting Cocks, aka Revco

revoltingcocks160f
So, there I was during the Revolting Cocks set checking the back of my camera to make sure I had the shot but I look up to discover only one inch from the tip of my nose-- is the tip of Sin's guitar... and he's holding it steady right there, just teasing me. I was taken aback to say the least but Sin and the guitar don't appear to be going anywhere. I look at him, look at the guitar-- and I can't move, the rail of the photo pit is at my back. What do I do I ask myself... and then I know there is only one thing to do... MUAHHHHH! I kissed the tip of the guitar with sincerity and the look of surprise on his face and ensuing laugh was priceless. I ran into him in the lobby after the show. "Nice improv!" he said. :)
MInistry was the headliner with opener Pit Bull Day Care and the completely astonishing Revolting Cocks. About two minutes into Revco's set I was once again reminded that this is what it is all about-- the joy, the fun, the insanity, the noise, the visual slap in the face that wakes you up and makes you feel completely alive!

Having a bad squirrel day...

squirrel
This was the darndest thing! I was out shooting a golf tourney at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex today and along the way noticed this crazy blue bird in hot pursuit dive-bombing this squirrel. I managed to get off barely a few frames before the squirrel disappeared behind a tree, the bird still in earnest attack mode. An unexpected bonus photo today!

Coheed and Cambria

coheed_and_cambria
This guy is unbelievable! Coheed and Cambria founder and guitarist Claudio Sanchez has a mountain of hair, which I swear is like a mushroom cloud surrounding his head when he is playing... or should I say shredding. And this set was long. He got so into it he couldn't be stopped, not that anyone tried of course. It was riveting. I checked out their myspace page for another good listen and read some of their friend comments. "... Claudio is a rock god."

Avenged Sevenfold

Saw these guys on one of the main stages at Warp Tour for the first time last year and they were good... but this year it's a whole new ballgame. These guys tore it up at Memorial Auditorium recently with a whole new sophistication, powerful music and sensational stage show.
